Chukwudubem George Onwuamadike was not just a kidnapper, before his arrest by the Lagos State Police Command, he was well crafted in the act of abducting innocent citizens and getting huge ransoms in return. Evans as he is popular known ran a highly sophisticated operation where members did not know themselves.
After months of trailing, the police finally accosted him on the roof of one of his two mansions in the highbrow area of Magodo GRA Phase II. These mansions worth 300 million naira. He also has two other houses in highbrow area of Accra, Ghana, among many other properties, such as exotic cars, expensive watches, jewellery he bought from ransom. He is also so comfortable that his family stay in Canada.
Arrested alongside Evans are six members of his gang, Felix Chinemerem, Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma (aka Sado), Suoyo Paul (aka Nwana), Ikenna Emeka, Uchechukwu Amadi and Ogechi Amadi.
According to the police, five AK47 and an AK 49 rifles, two double barrel long guns, two English pistols, 59 AK47, magazines with ammunition, 1,272 9mm live AK47 ammunition and five number plates were recovered from the gang.
In total the dare-devil kidnapper has kidnapped 10 people since he started his gang in 2015. Among his victims are Uyi Technical and Dan Odete, who paid N100million and N50million ransom respectively. Most of his victims are targetted and picked along the road or before they enter their homes.
While being paraded, Evans recounted how he started his sojourn in kidnapping trade. He said he was into auto spare parts importation but lost over N25m worth of goods to the Nigerian Customs. He later relocated to South Africa and became a drug peddler but was almost killed by his business partner. On his return to Nigeria, he found solace kidnapping rich men for ransom.
