Sequel to the alleged withholding of the results of the May/June 2017 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of pupils from Ondo State by the West African Examination Council, The Nation Newspaper has gathered that parents of the affected pupils have called on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to intervene in the matter.
The state government owed the examination body an unspecified amount of money which informed the decision of the WAEC to seize the result of the pupils.
A source, however, said it was the immediate past government of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko that allegedly owed the examination body. The source added that the present administration had yet to clear the debt.
Some of the parents who spoke lamented that the development might affect their children and their chances of admission into higher institutions of learning.
One of them, who identified herself simply as Mrs. Adeyemo, appealed to the state government to intervene in the matter.
Another parent, who craved anonymity because he is a civil servant, said the government was insensitive to the lives of pupils in the state.
