Former Watford striker Odion Ighalo has said he would love for Nigeria to clash with England in the first round of next year’s World Cup in Russia.
Ighalo was a major hit in England with Watford before he moved to China for the cash in January.
He said he believes the Super Eagles will shine against The Three Lions of England, who are one of the top seeds for Russia 2018.
“I will want a team like England (at the World Cup) because I did well in England and we can also do well against them at the World Cup,” Ighalo said.
Both Nigeria and England played out a goalless draw when they first clashed at the World Cup in 2002.
England beat Nigeria 1-0 at Wembley courtesy of a 41 minute winner by David Platt in a high-profile friendly in 1994.
The draw for next year’s World Cup will be staged on December 1 in Moscow.
