Sergio Aguero scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to give Manchester City a 2-1 victory against Bristol City in their Carabao Cup semifinal first leg on Tuesday.
Pep Guardiola started a rotated XI, but still picked many first-team regulars like Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling for the match against Championship opposition.
And Bristol would take a 1-0 lead to the dressing room when Bobby Reid dispatched a penalty after John Stones tripped him in the area minutes before half-time.
Man City were back on level terms soon after the intermission, though, with De Bruyne smashing a first-time shot past Bristol keeper Frank Fielding from a Sterling cut-back pass in the 55th minute.
And with the match seemingly headed for a draw, substitute Aguero drifted into the Bristol penalty area and headed home a Bernardo Silva cross to secure the victory ahead of the return leg in two weeks’ time.
