Rihanna declares that Drake’s declaration of love for her makes her feel uncomfortable.

In August 2016, everyone on the internet had a new couple crush when Drake got on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and professed his love for Rihanna.

That moment seemed like the start of a relationship everyone was here for, but there is one person who didn’t feel that way.

Now, in a new interview with Vogue, the Bad Gal admits that, with the world watching and seemingly loving the moment, she actually felt quite the opposite.

“Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part,” she said. “I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”

The Toronto native presented one of his “best friends” and frequent music collaborators with the 2016 Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, during which he admitted that he’d been in love with the Barbados born singer since he was 22 years old.

Part of Rihanna’s discomfort at that moment, she said, was due to the fact that on one of the biggest stages in music — receiving one of the biggest music awards — she felt like the spotlight shifted from her to him.

“The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal.”

As for the status of their relationship now? Rih Rih admitted, “it is what it is.”

“We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either.” Sorry, AubRih fans, we guess it really is over.
