Popular gospel artiste turns a secular singer while he says, “gospel has no money”

Sanka real name Sankale Meringo is the talk of the town. This man has shocked many by ditching gospel music and taking a headlong dive into the secular music industry. Five breathing Christians haven’t spared him for his move after serving as a praise and worship leader for years at Nairobi Chapel church.

We have reached out to the singer who says he made the decision to switch his music content after going broke saying that gospel has no money.

“I was a praise and worship leader full time. I never received a coin or appreciation from it. I was growing old and I wasn’t making income. I was the Groove Award nominee hip-hop song of the year, 2016.”

Before this, he had released an album that got the attention of many two years ago but it seems things went away. The guy was still broke even with his critical acclaim.

“I am not going to pay my rent with faith, am just tired of people. 2yrs album broken, tours from one church, not one church paid me.”

“No one can separate me from God but I’ve moved to secular music full time,” said Singer Sanka.

Sanka is however not the first artiste to grow up in church and end up singing secular music. Rayvany, Beyonce, Wahu, Amani, just to name a few have done the same.
