What Is Unai Emery Bringing To Arsenal

The newly appointed Arsenal boss have his work cut out for him in his new side as Arsenal fans seek improvement from what they were under Arsene Wenger reign.

Popularly know for his success in the UEFA Europa league having won it thrice in a row with Sevilla, Emery is saddled with the responsibility of bringing stability, consistency and instilling his philosophy to his new side.

Emery is a man who loves taking note of smallest details, like most top managers having detailed video analysis of his opponent and determining their weakness while mapping out strategies to explore it, also known for his psychological approach to games where he finds ways to motivate his boys for the upcoming game coupled with ability to change tactics while a match is ongoing and more of a plan B, something Arsenal lacked under Wenger.

Emery plays the attacking formation with his boys pressing high up and quick counter attack with compact defending.

Widely known for deploying the 4-2-3-1 formation which brought him success at both Sevilla and Valencia, only at PSG did he deploy 4-3-3 formation perhaps following the club style while infusing his own style.

At Valencia and Sevilla the 4-2-3-1 set up allows full backs actively involved in attacking and counter plays,  giving them chance for high pressing and easy transition from defence to attack while in the midfield position he plays two there, one Central the other defensive minded with three attacking players behind a lone striker.

In PSG a similar pattern was adopted at the back, full backs were given license to join attack in high pressing method while opting for three man midfield, a defensive midfielder and two central midfielders with license to roam freely on the attack he had pacey wingers and a top quality striker who knows how to hold up play and link up with the wingers effectively.

Whatever formation he chooses to deploy at Arsenal, he certainly has the personnel to suit his style of play but a 4-2-3-1 formation will suit Arsenal more as that has been the formation wenger has been using for years which has brought him success in his own right.

Under Emery players like Bellerin and Kolasinac suits his preferred full back mode of operation looking similar to what he did with Kimpepe and Munier at PSG while at the center back pairing the likes of Mustafi and Koscielny partnership last season was a catastrophe.

Emery has the option of either changing them or try to work on improving their partnership or better still sign a new defender to help strengthen Arsenals defence. In the midfield section players like Wilshere, Xhaka, Elneny, Ramsey could benefit from Emery pattern as they have the technical ability while suiting Emery choice for preferred Central and defensive Midfielders.

Emery, this has proven beyond reasonable doubt of his man management skills and also calm the fans fears of lose of dressing room which is common in most top British teams, one thing is sure Unai Emery is condemned to succeed at Arsenal.
