The Nigeria University Education Student Association (NUESA), University of Benin have in their today’s plenary suspended the speaker Rt Hon Evans Onanefe from the Department of Educational Management.
The suspension came to be when Hon Evans was accused to have defaulted the constitution of the association under Schedule II ‘oath of office of the officers of the association’ stating performance of duties with faithfulness, true allegiance and without fear or favour, affection or ill will.
To the above paragraph, the the speaker was alleged to have tabled his approved budget 642,500 thousand naira by the parliament to a secret meeting headed by the President of the association, comrade Charles Bernard Ibe and have it slashed as against and a thing of ridicule to the Parliament going by ArticleIX, section 9, subsection 2 under the ‘Power and Functions of the Parliament’, this the President affirmed the meeting was held.
Our reporter has it that Hon Majekodunmi Benjamin (Sankara) from the Department of Educational Foundation (DEF) constituency moved for the suspension of the the speaker and was seconded by Hon Richard from the same constituency as of Hon Sankara.
The acting speaker (Deputy Speaker), Hon James Panmi Tampang from Adult Education pronounced the suspension of the speaker in person of Hon Evans Onanefe and hit the gavel to stamp the suspension.
